Gov urges Pangasinenses to see province first

Lingayen, Pangasinan (30 April) -- Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. urged Pangasinenses to travel around the province first before they go to other tourist destinations in and outside the country.

Stressing the importance of domestic tourism, Espino said that the provincial government launched an integrated tourism development program following the renovation of the Capitol Building and its environs which he said are considered the core and center of Pangasinan tourism.

At the opening of the 2nd Tourism and Trade Expo dubbed "Aliguas ed Turismo tan Ekonomiya" last April 26, the governor said that what is seen in the Capitol is just a preview of the wholesome tourism development provincewide.

The tourism expo, which will run until May 3 as part of Pangasinan Pista'y Dayat, gathered some 80 exhibitors from various towns in the province for the showcasing of their best local products, notably export quality native delicacies, wood-and-bamboo crafts, garden plants and tourism-related services.

Espino said that tourism centers in all towns and pasalubong centers will be put up in strategic locations throughout the province to further boost the tourism industry.

The centers, he said, will guide domestic and foreign tourists to Pangasinan's various tourism assets.

After the opening program and blessing of all booths, spectators were treated to an exhibition of drum and bugle corps and drum and lyre groups that aptly provided a fiesta ambience at the Lingayen beachfront. (PIO/PIA Pangasinan) [top]
