Tagalog News: 2 Korean firms mamumuhunan ng $200M sa wind power projects sa bansa

Manila (1 June) -- Inaasahang matutugunan na ng Pilipinas ang isyu ng global warming sa pamamagitan ng pagpapababa ng dependence ng bansa sa fossil fuels matapos mangako ang dalawang kompanya ng South Korea na mamuhunan ng $200 million sa wind power projects sa bansa.

Ang Korea East West Power Co., Ltd. (EWP), isang wholly-owned subsidiary ng Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO) ay nangako na mamuhunan ng $50 million para sa Alternergy Philippine Holdings Corporation's wind power projects sa Pilipinas.

Nangako din ang Export Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) na magbigay ng $150 million loans upang pondohan ang mga wind power projects na ipapatayo ng EWP at Alternergy.

Ang pangako ng dalawang kompanya ay nakapaloob sa memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the Construction of Wind Power Plants sa Pilipinas. Ang kasunduan ay nilagdaan sa pagitan nina KEXIM Chairman Kim Dong-Soo sa panig ng Korea at Undersecretary Elmer Hernandez naman ng Philippines Board of Investments (BOI). (Abbenal/PIA 12) [top]
