Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-7) Regional assistant Director Exequiel Sarcauga in a forum this morning on the upcoming event bared at least 20 firms have sent notice to participate while more establishments are expected to confirm in the next few days.
As the focus of this year's observance of Philippine Independence Day is job generation through mega job and livelihood fairs in response to the global economic slowdown, government is partnering with the private sector and the local government units to realize the objective of providing employment particularly to displaced workers.
Regional line agencies have also been asked to participate by posting their vacancies and entertaining interested applicants.
"DOLE-7 has 12 available vacant positions as we await other national government agencies to give us the number of jobs needed," Sarcauga said.
The job fair of national line agencies will be posted at the Trade Hall of SM City Cebu while other job generation activities will also be done at the mall. We will also be entertaining possible applicants for the job vacancies, Sarcauga bared.
An overseas jobs fair is also slated on Sunday, June 14, the last day of the three-day mega jobs fair, this is learned.

Other highlights that will happen on June 12 in Cebu include the awarding of employment contract, training vouchers and livelihood grants to worker-beneficiaries under the Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP).
Free medical and dental services are also scheduled as well as skills demonstration, backyard livelihood technology demo, trade exhibits and housing fair among others.
On June 12, the flag raising ceremonies and wreath-laying as well as Independence Day messages will be held at the Malacaņang sa Sugbo, Pres. Arroyo's residence in the south.
Local government units are likewise urged to do the same in their respective city and provincial halls.
The DOLE spearheads the annual celebration of the Independence Day nationwide highlighting government's efforts to provide job opportunities to Filipinos in the face of a worldwide economic meltdown.
Job generation is also one of the priority thrusts of the Arroyo Administration where the President herself even in the early part of her term in office has promised to provide 10M jobs until her term ends.
