Lapus thanks PAGASA for school opening weather reports
Pasig City (3 June) -- Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Jesli Lapus thanked the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) for providing accurate weather forecasts in time for the opening of the school year yesterday.
"PAGASA's accurate and timely weather updates enabled us at DepEd to properly inform the parents and the students of the weather conditions in various parts of the country on school opening week," Lapus said. "And this enabled them to prepare for the rains as predicted by our friends at PAGASA."
Lapus noted that the country's weather bureau has been an active partner agency of DepEd for its annual Oplan Balik Eskwela effort.
"We thank PAGASA for their continued participation in Oplan Balik Eskwela," Lapus said. "The impact of their contribution to our back-to-school operations is being felt in the community and they have helped parents prepare their children for school opening."
Oplan Balik Eskwela is DepEd's annual nationwide campaign for the preparation of school opening. Through OBE, DepEd seeks to address common problems encountered during school opening, provide information, and coordinate with government agencies, communities and other education stakeholders.
