CSC encourages gov't agencies to join Kalayaan '09

Roxas City (3 June) -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has enjoined all government agencies to actively participate in the upcoming 111th Independence Day celebration on June 12 this year.
This was announced by the Commission to the heads of constitutional bodies, national government agencies, local government units, government-owned and controlled corporations, and state colleges and universities.
The celebration dubbed "Kalayaan 2009" with the theme "Kagitingan, Kagalingan at Kasipagan: Tungo sa Tunay na Kalayaan" will be observed with a simultaneous flag raising and wreath laying rites in Luneta Grandstand, Cavite, Malolos City, San Juan City, Caloocan City and other designated areas nationwide.
A job and livelihood fair at Luneta and all Kalayaan Regional Centers as well as awarding of job contracts and livelihood assistance will highlight the day.
The yearly Independence Day celebration commemorates General Emilio Aguinaldo's unfurling of the Philippine National Flag amid the majestic fervor of the Marcha Nacional Filipina signifying independence.at his Mansion (now Aguinaldo Shrine) in Kawit, Cavite, at 4:20 PM. of June 12,1898.
The same flag was unfurled in the Battle of Alapan on May 28, 1898 and proclamation of Philippine Independence 15 days afterwards. (PIA) [top]
