Tagalog News: Korean popondohan ang ipapatayong rice processing centers sa bansa

Manila (3 June) -- Pormal ng nilagdaan sa pagitan ng Pamahalaan ng Pilipinas at Korea ang kasunduan para sa ipapatayong apat (4) na rice processing centers (RPCs) sa bansa na popondohan ng Korean government. Layunin ng nasabing proyekto na mapababa ang postharvest losses at mapataas sa mahigit limang libong piso (P5,000) ang kita ng mga magsasaka sa bansa.

Ang Exchange of Notes (EoN) para sa Korean grant ay nilagdaan sa pagitan ng Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT) na sinaksihan nina Pangulong Arroyo at Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap.

Upang maisakatuparan ang naturang proyekto, naglaan din ang pamahalaan ng P136 milyong pisong counterpart funds para sa konstruksyon ng apat na rice processing centers sa Pilipinas.

Ayon kay DA Undersecretary Berna Romulo Puyat, P104 million ng P136 milyong pisong pondo ay kukunin mula sa pondo ng Kagawaran ng Agrikultura habang ang natitirang P32 million naman ay kukunin mula sa pondo ng mga local government units kung saan nakatakdang ipatayo ang mga PRCs.

Ani Puyat, nagbigay na rin P649 million grant ang Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) para sa konstruksyon ng P785-million rice-processing complex projects sa bansa. (Abbenal/PIA 12) [top]
