3 'Presidentiables' to talk in Cebu Forum next week

Cebu City (June 4) -- Three 'Presidentiables' who have made their political plans known will be pitted against each other on how they intend to make the country move forward in a first-ever forum in Cebu next week initiated by businessmen.

Sen. Manuel Roxas III, Sen. Francis Joseph Escudero and Defense Sec. Gilberto Teodoro are invited on June 11 here in Cebu for the forum dubbed 'Facing Old Challenges, Forging New Engagements' in the first conference of independent business clubs spearheaded by the Makati Business Club in partnership with the Cebu Business Club and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

The three 'Presidentiables' will be speaking on one topic 'Key Challenges for a Progressive Philippines."

Four persons from various sectors composed the panel after the talks of the three 'Presidentiables' namely Jess Alcordio, Dr. Benjamin Diokno, Simeon Marfori and Dr. Felipe Medalla.

Rep. Teofisto Gunigona III is also one of the resource persons to talk on 'Reforming the Budget Process.'

'Education Reform' will be a topic to be tackled by Mr. Chito B. Salazar, executive director for Philippine Business Education.

After the talks of the three 'Presidentiables,' a view from a foreign investor will be shared by Mr. Peter Wallace, President of the Wallace Business Forum.

Jose Cuisia Jr., chairman of the Coalition Against Corruption will also deliver a message on Transparency and Governance.

Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on the other hand, has given top priorities on fiscal reform, education, transparency and good governance to fight corruption as part of her administration's thrusts.

To welcome the participants to the forum will be Gordon Alan Joseph, President of the Cebu Business Club while the opening remarks will be given by Ramon del Rosario Jr., chairman of the Makati Business Club (MBC).
