IFEX showcases best products of Northern Mindanao

Camiguin Province (4 June) -- Exciting food products from Northern Mindanao were showcased at the recently concluded International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines 2009, the country's foremost destination for unique food ideas held at the SMX Convention Center at the SM Mall of Asia in Manila on May 15-17, 2009.
At least 25 homegrown and premium food companies from Northern Mindanao, including the food treasures of Camiguin Province, namely Vjandep pastel, Maestrado tablea and Soling's piniato, were part of the IFEX Partner Region Program (PRP) in a bid to unravel the gastronomic treasures of Mindanao at the IFEX PRP Pavilion.
The IFEX PRP Pavilion was formally opened by no less than Regional Development Council 10 (RDC-X) Chairman and Camiguin Governor Jurdin Jesus "JJ" M. Romualdo as the guest of honor, assisted by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Sr. Undersecretary Thomas Aquino, the Growth of Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Chief of Party Mr. Charles Feibel, DTI-10 Regional Director Alicia V. Euseña and witnessed by Camiguin Congressman Pedro P. Romualdo, Mambajao Mayor Ma. Luisa D. Romualdo, DTI-10 officials and staff, DTI CITEM officials along with domestic and foreign buyers.
The three-day event was complemented with daily activities, which included the food demo, diverse product promotion, food tasting and selling, market matching sessions with both domestic and foreign buyers and the NM Investment and Marketing Forum which Gov. Romualdo was the guest speaker.
This year's IFEX Philippines marks its fifth edition with a remarkable selection of food products from the quality producers and suppliers from here and abroad, an annual trade show organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), an agency of the Department of Trade and Industry.

Northern Mindanao is this year's destination of the IFEX Partner Region Program (PRP), a project of the CITEM that is geared towards helping the regions of the country to innovate, promote and package quality food products from the Philippines and also a venue for the different regions to share exciting gourmet options that appeals to the senses.
