OFWs our economic heroes, says OWWA
Tuguegarao City (5 June) -- The Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), the so called new economic and unsung heroes, are given tribute in the commemoration of the Migrant Workers Day by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region 2.
Ms. Ofelia Castro-Hudson, Program Coordinator-OWWA2, said the celebration is tagged as 'Araw ng Pasasalamat' that will take into account the gigantic contribution and enormous impact to the economy that geared up strong and stable economy despite several crises that the country has experienced.
"It is a fact how impressive these OFWs immensely contributed in terms of economic sustainability and development that's why they deserve to be given tribute," Hudson said.
In the program, the economically displaced workers who are recipients of financial assistance from the government have displayed their products such as processed foods, fruits, handicrafts, mushroom and other livelihood projects that are produced and created from the financial help of the government.
Delegates from different provinces of the region have participated in the program that include trade fair, medical and dental services, and recognition of outstanding OFWs who have made invaluable contribution and manifested exemplary accomplishment.
