Tagalog News: EMB, PCAPI 12 conducts technical seminar for PCOs

Koronadal City (5 June) -- The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of DENR 12 and the Pollution Control Association of the Philippines (PCAPI) region 12 chapter conducted a 2-day Technical Seminar Basic Course for Pollution Control Officers at the EMR Center in Koronadal City.

PCAPI XII president Rodolfo R. Fuentes said that the association leads the conduct of series of programs and seminars, especially for this year's challenge which is geared towards an improved environmental protection and conservation, particularly coping with Climate Change.

Fuentes said that partnering with EMB 12 for the conduct of the said seminar is laudable because around 70 Pollution Control Officers (PCOs) all over the region were given the chance to enhance their technical skills on waste water management; proper solid waste disposal and management.

The PCOs were also given briefing for the general understanding of environmental laws, occupational and health safety in the workplace.

Discussed during the training are salient points of environmental laws such as the Ecological Solid Waste management Act, the effects of unmanaged wastes and how they impact climate change and the proliferation of waste-borne diseases.

EMB 12 regional director Datu Tungko M. Saikol commended the PCOs for making themselves available to upgrade their technical skills, improve their performance to accomplish their task and contribute to the efforts of the government on solid waste management. (ac agad PIA 12) [top]
