As part of the event and in honor of our overseas Filipino workers, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will be awarding Pangulong Gloria Scholarship (PGS) to 34) displaced OFWs, who decided to have a re-tooling or upgrading of their skills.

Based on OWWA-CAR data, of the 34 beneficiaries, 20 are from Baguio and 14 are from Benguet. 19 of the beneficiaries, including two women, applied for the welding course, four on caregiver course, five on housekeeping, five on computer technology and one on heavy-equipment operations.

In the same event OWWA, will also present the 10 Educational Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) beneficiaries (baccalaureate scholars), for school year 2009. They will also be awarding checks to 15 Filipino Expatriate Livelihood Support Fund (FELSF) loan beneficiaries and will give a certificate of recognition to an OWWA scholarship grantee, who graduated as civil engineering "cum laude" from St Louis University, last April.

There will also be an awarding for the most active Land-based and sea-based Overseas Family Circle (OFC) and most outstanding achievement from sea-based and land based OFWs.

The Migrant Worker's Day celebration will begin with a street parade at 9 AM and will be followed by a program at the SM Baguio at 10:00 am. Event organizers expect about 1,500 migrant workers participants from different parts of the region.
