Dagupan mayor pushes quality day care centers
Dagupan City (8 June) -- Mayor Alipio Fernandez, Jr. has exhorted the city's Day Care center volunteers to continue serving to heighten the public's awareness in protecting the rights of children, including the right to basic education.
"The future depends upon what we do in the present," Fernandez said as he stressed the need to upgrade facilities of the day care centers.
Day care workers of Dagupan play an important role because the early years of a child's life is the most critical period, he pointed out. "The way you handle children under your care would definitely contribute to the kind of adult the country will have," he said.
He commended the city's day care workers during the induction program of Day Care Workers' Association recently.
Studies show that experience provided by day care center workers is a determining factor in the performance of Grade 1 pupils in the formal school system.
Fernandez cited a report that children with quality early experience achieved significantly higher than those without experience in early childhood care and development.
"A good education is what every parent dreams of for his or her children. This is what I want every Dagupeno child to have. This is what every Dagupeno child must enjoy" he said. (CIO/PIA Pangasinan/dos) [top]
