26,358 jobs available in "Kalayaan Fair"

Iloilo City (8 June) -- Some 26,358 employment opportunities will be made available to job seekers in Western Visayas during the three-day Kalayaan job fair as part of this year's Independence Day celebration in the country.

The job fair will be held at the Amigo Plaza Mall starting on June 1214.

Department of Labor and Employment 6 (DOLE 6) Information Officer Amalia Judicpa said that around 61 various local and overseas recruitment agencies including some government agencies have already signified their participation to the three-day affair offering some 26,358 job vacancies as of June 8.

A total of 1,462 vacancies will be made available during the first day of the Kalayaan Job Fair on June 12. Of the number, 175 are unfilled plantilla positions and 1,287 vacancies for short term employment in 14 government agencies.

On June 13, some 29 recruitment agencies have signified their intention to participate offering around 1,611 local employment opportunities while on June 14, a total of 18 agencies will participate offering 23,285 overseas job vacancies.

The three-day job fair will also feature the display of livelihood products of some government funded projects.

Other activities to be held from June 12 to 14 include one stop pre-employment services, skills demonstration, housing/cliniquing fairs, medical and dental services and legal assistance.

On June 12, families of OFWs will be given the chance to talk to their family members working abroad through a free phone call at SM City Mandurriao.

Also, a two-hour cultural presentation featuring Filipino Folk and Pop Dances will be shown on June 11 as pre-Independence Day entertainment and on June 12 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the SM City Activity Center. (PIA) [top]
