DENR offers 4,784 jobs under CLEEP at Kalayaan Jobs Fair in Region 8
Tacloban City (June 9) -- Some 4,784 job opportunities for the qualified job seekers are being made available by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 8 in the June 12 Kalayaan 2009 Jobs Fair and Service Caravan at the Astrodome of Tacloban City.
Regional Executive Director Regidor M. De Leon that this is in compliance with Executive Order No. 782 issued by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo which called to the hiring of job order personnel using 1.5 percent of the agency' MOOE.
Of the total number of job opportunities, about 4,562 are for the position of Bantay Gubat in the six provinces of Eastern Visayas; 92 are for the position of Bantay Dagat; and 130 are for the position of extension worker.
The Bantay Gubat posts are distributed to the six provinces where 560 will be assigned in Leyte; 218 for Biliran; 248 for Southern Leyte; 1,704 for Samar; 1,544 for Eastern Samar and 288 for Northern Samar.
The 92 Bantay Dagat positions are distributed in such a way that 20 are for Leyte; four for Biliran; 4 for Southern Leyte; 7 in Samar; 21 for Eastern Samar and 36 for Northern Samar.
To qualify to the two positions, the job seeker must be literate and possess good communication skills; at least elementary graduate; resident of the locality; preferably member of an organized upland or protected area community.
Of the 130 extension worker positions, four will be assigned at the Regional Office; 32 in Leyte; 10 in Biliran; 21 in Southern Leyte; 21 in Samar; 21 in Eastern Samar; and 21 in Northern Samar.
The applicant for the extension worker position must have a certificate of good moral character; college graduate preferably Forestry or Agro Forestry; good in written and oral communications; and willing to be assigned in the field, preferably a resident of the province or region where Upland Development Program is located; and must be able to speak the local dialect.
The Bantay Gubat, Bantay Dagat and the extension worker program are three major projects the DENR is implementing under President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program.
Bantay Gubat and Bantay Dagat project form part of the fulfillment of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's efforts to provide "green collar" jobs to the country's most vulnerable sectors.
DENR 8 Regional Executive Director Regidor de Leon said that under the Bantay Gubat and Bantay Dagat projects, emergency forest and sea extension workers will be hired to act as forest guards or sea guards in the Filipino vernacular.
The duties of the forest extension workers will include patrolling the untenured forest land to detect timber poaching or any illegal logging activities and at the same time monitoring for any sign of forest fire, seed collection, information gathering regarding on-going activities within the area, and assisting in the conduct of information dissemination and education communication activities.
On the other hand, the extension officer shall assist the upland farmers who will be contracted to undertake UDP activities through the conduct of farmers' trainings.
