Nautical highway in Dapitan ushers in more tourists, cargoes
Dipolog City (9 June) -- More tourists and cargoes have been observed nowadays being serviced by the Strong Republic Nautical Highway (SRNH) at Pulauan Port in Dapitan City, according to port manager Roger V. Asprer.
Asprer attributed the increase in passengers and cargoes to the improvements made on the port through the help of President Arroyo.
With improved port facilities, more vessels are now plying the route from Dapitan City to other places in the Visayas and Luzon such Dumaguete, Cebu, Tagbiliran, Ilo-ilo, and Manila.
Asprer, on the other hand, believed that the provincial government's support to President Arroyo's program had also contributed a lot to the growing activities at the port.
Agriculture, fishery and forest products coming from the different places in Mindanao are also being brought to the markets in Visayas and Luzon through the SRNH in Dapitan.
"With the P40-million passenger building to be constructed soon, I am confident that Pulauan Port shall continue to accommodate the rising volume of cargoes and passenger," the manager stressed. (PF/PIA-ZN) [top]
