DepEd-XI to train teachers and workforce for WATCH program
Davao City (10 June) -- Teachers and employees of the Department of Education in Region XI will undergo orientation on WATCH, a punctuality and anti-corruption advocacy, it is also an acronym that stands for We Advocate Time Consciousness and Honesty.
WATCH is a joint values advocacy movement of the JCI Senate Philippines, the Department of Education and the PACU (Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities) that aims to inculcate in the Filipino youth age 8-18 the value of Time and Honesty in the development and productivity of a Nation.
It is aimed to curb the infamous values of "Filipino" Time and cheating among young Filipinos.
Recently President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has declared the month of June as WATCH month and last May 20-23, the DepED held its WATCH summit in Baguio which served as an orientation to the advocacy, this was attended by representatives from different DepEd regional offices.
According to DepEd Regional Director Susana Estigoy, she aims to start WATCH among the region's teachers and DepEd employees, these teachers in turn will serve as role models for their students.
Estigoy said WATCH will geared on positive inculcation and will not be punitive in nature. She said, the DepEd will be mapping out strategies on how to promote these two values.
The WATCH program in Davao was officially launched last June 5 at the
hilippine Information Agency-XI conference room, with WATCH National Chairman JCI Senate Maria Agnes Angeles handing over WATCH promo materials to Director Estigoy. Before the turn-over, Estigoy and the JCI Senate officials were guests at the Kapihan sa PIA media forum disseminating the program through the local media. (PIA XI) [top]
