NVizcaya DPWH eyes P200-M fund for Bitnung-Belance road project
Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (10 June) -- The additional P200 million needed for the completion of the more than P18 kilometer Bitnung-Belance road project has already been approved, officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways(DPWH) here said.
Engineer Ronald Reyes, district engineer of DPWH north district said they are just waiting for the release and issuance of the Special Allotment Release Order(SARO) of the fund before doing its implementation work.
"We hope that the SARO will be released the soonest so that we can start with the remaining portion of the road project," he said.
The 5.22 kilometer portion of the road project has already been completed with an initial allocation of P130 million. Another P200 million will be needed more to complete the remaining 13.382 kilometers.
The road development project was committed by Arroyo to bishop Ramon Villena of the diocese of Bayombong and Quirino as her birthday gift during her visit to barangay Belance in March 2007.
Local officials in the province consider the project as one of the major infrastructure support systems that will boost the agricultural potentials of Nueva Vizcaya.
"Once completed, this project will reactivate and envigorate agricultural production in our municipality. It will even boost our "Yacon' rootcrop which is our "One Town, One Product," mayor Antonio Palugod said.
The Bitnung-Belance road project will serve as a link of vegetable farmers in transporting their products on time and without spoilage to the Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal(NVAT) in Bambang town and in other provinces as well, thereby improving their family's income. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
