Pagadian City holds simple rites; DOLE conducts jobs, livelihood fair in Molave

Pagadian City (June 10) -- Aside from the traditional flag-raising and wreath laying rites, this year's 111th Independence Day Celebration will be highlighted by the so called KALAYAAN 2009 Job and Livelihood Fair to be held simultaneously in the entire country starting on June 12 until June 14 with the theme "Kagitingan, Kagalingan at Kasipagan: Tungo sa Tunay na Kalayaan."
The Job Fair on June 12 is for employment in government agencies and the Comprehensive Livelihood Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP). On June 13, it will cater to local employment, while June 14 is for overseas employment.
In Region IX, Jobs Fair will be held at the Summit Center, Universidad de Zamboanga, Zamboanga City on June 12; on June 13 at Molave, Zamboanga del Sur and on June 14 in Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte.
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita is expected to grace the occasion in Zamboanga City together with the newly installed Presidential Assistant for Western Mindanao Msgr. Crisanto de la Cruz.
Pagadian City, the new regional center for Western Mindanao will hold a simple but meaningful rites with no less than the General Manager of the Philippine Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Hon.Rosario Uriarte as the guest of honor.
The activity will be participated in by all national and local government officials and employees, Veterans Federation of the Philippines Pagadian Chapter, AFP, PNP, civic groups, senior citizens and non-government organizations.
Regional Executive Director Maximo Dichoso of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-IX) will distribute Land Patents under Handog Titulo Program and the ceremonial awarding of Job Contracts to 460 hired beneficiaries under the Comprehensive Livelihood Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP) of the government.
On the other hand, Labor and Employment Provincial Director Virginia Bonbon said the Jobs Fair in Molave will be led by the DOLE Provincial Office in cooperation with the local government unit of Molave thru the Public Service Employment Office (PESO).
To kick-off the activity, a motorcade will be held around the said town participated in by local employers and licensed overseas recruitment agencies in the province that will benefit the local entrepreneurs in the informal sector and those seeking employment locally or abroad.
DOLE-9 Regional Director Ponciano Ligutom is also expected to distribute Livelihood Assistance to rural workers under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program in order to help these workers improve their economic conditions thru the implementation of the so-called Pangkinabuhiang Proyekto.
The Ramon Magsaysay Bamboo Craft Association and the Dumingag Federated Women's Association will also involve themselves in the occasion by displaying their finished products for sale to the public.
These activities are being conducted in support to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's directive to celebrate Independence Day in a simple but meaningful way to save people's money, instead, to conduct programs that will improve the life of the Filipino people especially the marginalized sector.
