DENR Caraga employes receive P3,000 anniversary bonus

Butuan City (11 June) -- The Employees of the DENR regional and field offices and the Environment Management Bureau, have received P 3,000 anniversary bonus as they celebrated the DENR 22nd anniversary in a simple fun and fanfares at its regional office in Barangay Amabago, Butuan City yesterday June 10,2009.
In his opening remarks read for him by the Regional Technical Director Virgilio dela Cruz, DENR Regional Executive Director for Caraga Region Edilberto S. Buiser has challenged the DENR employees to work hard with humility and prove their worth as true civil servants of the Filipino people.
He reiterated the instruction of the DENR Secretary Lito Atienza to keep the "anniversary celebration very simple in keeping with the call of President Arroyo to make wise use of government resources."
The bonus came from the forced-savings of the DENR Caraga Region for this year.
He said the DENR has proven its mandated functions as the primary caretaker of the environment and natural resources.
The celebration of the DENR Caraga Region has started with a mass followed by the so called "Larong Lahi" sports consists of native games.
At the central office in Quezon City, DENR Secretary Lito Atienza has lead the celebration highlighted by the awarding of trophies to winners of the DENR Sportsfest and service awards to selected personnelSecretary Atienza said the Department has taken great strides in the management and sustainable development of the country's natural resources, particularly in the areas of minerals and upland development.
Specifically, Secretaty Atienza said, last year's accomplishment, including the first quarter of the current year, has been focused on providing investments and jobs to thousands of Filipinos, particularly those displaced by the current economic downturn.
Secretary Atienza also reported that the upland development program, which the agency is pushing full blast this year, will generate more than 52,000 jobs nationwide.
The DENR chief explained that all government programs and projects were all directed towards hunger mitigation, poverty reduction as well as protecting the country from the global economic crisis that is now hurting the rich and powerful countries.
Atienza expressed his grateful appreciation to various stakeholders for their continued support to DENR as partners in implementing its programs and at the same time, renewed his call to all employees during the eve of the department's anniversary, to exert more efforts in working towards achieving the government's target and to be extra vigilant in the performance of their duties.
