Pinoy expats: The preferred worker of international employers
Tuguegarao City (11 June) -- "The expatriate Filipino workers have always been the number one or preferred worker of international employers," said Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Carmelita Dimzon, through her message read by OWWA-2 OIC Virsie Tmayao during the "Araw ng Pasasalamat" for OFWs and their families in region 2.
Tamayao quoted Dimzon's line that a Pinoy OFW is much sought after employee because of competence, honesty, industriousness, resiliency, work attitude, skills and talents.
"The OFWs are the great Filipino global workers. They are the people we are extremely proud of," Tamayao said.
Tamayao, in her opening remarks, said the "Araw ng Pasasalamat" is an endearing appreciation to the efforts and sacrifices of OFWs of region 2, most especially in the economic aspect.
Tamayao further stated that in all corners of the world there are highly skilled and hardworking OFWs who are frontliners projecting what the Filipinos can do in the spirit of sacrifice for their families and the country.
"We salute and honor our Pinoy expats, the fathers, mothers, sons, daughters and other members of the family who made difficult decisions to leave home and work abroad is a great sacrifice," Tamayao added.
On the other hand, OWWA gave commendation to the family of Mildred Perez, a Pinoy OFW in Hongkong, who displayed honesty in giving back lost money amounting to 350 Hongkong dollars or equivalent to 1.9 million pesos to the owner.
OWWA handed certificate of appreciation and cash to the family of Mildred in Nueva Vizcaya Province.
