NVizcaya is AH1N1 ready, says health exec
Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya (11 June) -- Provincial health workers here are now ready to provide mitigation efforts and measures once the AH1N1 virus will set foot in the province.
Dr. Edwin Galapon, provincial health officer said health workers from the provincial down to the barangay level have been properly oriented on the AH1N1 virus including its required plan of action.
"In fact, we are ready with our free medicines and quarantine facilities once we have cases here," Galapon said.
He also urged those who are suffering from fever and colds to do self quarantine so as not to spread the virus.
Galapon said government hospitals in the province are already prepared to collect specimen from possible patients for verification in Metro Manila.
He said the only way to prevent the virus from affecting people requires the maintenance of good health, proper food preparation, vitamin sufficiency and proper handwashing.
Since April this year, the health sector here has undertaken the following preparatory activities in line with the prevention and mitigation of the AH1N1 virus such as provincewide orientation among health personnel, strengthening of surveillance down to the barangay level, inclusion of AH1N1 lesson in household classes and massive information dissemination through print and broadcast media outlets.
