Surigao del Sur to celebrate 111th Independence Day

Tandag, Surigao del Sur (11 June) -- The local government here and the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur headed by Governor Vicente T. Pimentel, Jr. will join the nationwide celebration of the 111th Philippine Independence Day with the theme, "Kagitingan, Kagalingan at Kasipagan tungo sa Tunay Na Kalayaan" tomorrow, June 12 at the Town Plaza, in this municipality.

The celebration will start with a chant, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and raising of the Philippine flag at Tandag Municipal Hall Ground with Gov. Vicente T. Pimentel, Jr., Mayor Alexander T. Pimentel, Hon. Rosario Ninfa G. Dumagan II, and other public officials of this province.

Wreath-laying follows at the statue of the country's national hero - Dr. Jose P. Rizal to be led by Governor Pimentel, joined by the Department heads from both local and national agencies and non- government agencies.

The highlight of the activities is the distribution of Pangulong Gloria Scholarship (PGS) vouchers spearheaded by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) headed by Provincial Director Maximo Z. Nebrez, Jr. to 150 qualified selected scholars of St. Michael College, Saint Theresa College, Surigao del Sur Polytechnic State College (SSPSC) Main Campus and SSPSC Cagwait Campus.

Aside from 150 coupons to be given away to the four schools of 1st District, TESDA Tandag had also 150 vouchers and coupon for qualified scholars of this province, composed of the following: 50 scholars for Computer Hardware Servicing (CHS); 50 for Consumer Electronics Servicing NC II and 50 for Building and Wiring Installation (BWI), this was revealed by Mr. Allan Millan, TESDA Supervising TSP Specialist.

Meanwhile, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) thru Community Environment and natural Resources will also distribute the Malunggay seedlings and seeds. (PIA-Surigao del Sur) [top]
