PCSO approves P3.1-M worth of projects for Antique barangays

San Jose, Antique (11 June) -- The Board of Directors of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) headed by Chairman Hon. Sergio O. Valencia recently approved the amount of P3.1 million to purchase 620 medical kits for various barangay health centers in the Province of Antique as requested by Bugsay Association, Inc. an association of ex-seminarians.

The kit which contains a nebulizer and medicines will be distributed to 590 barangays, 23 parishes and dispensaries of some schools in the province as per project proposal of Bugsay submitted to PCSO.

According to Rey S. Elio, Secretary of Bugsay Association, Inc., the distribution of medical kits in the province is in line with their project "Bantay Kalusugan: Alay sa Bayan Medical Outreach Program".

Virgilio Q. Sanchez, President of Bugsay, said that the turn-over of medical kits from the PSCO suppliers to the association will be on June 24 in simple rites at EBJ Freedom Park which will be attended by PCSO Director Raymundo T. Roquero, an Antiqueño who was responsible for facilitating the project of Bugsay Association Inc.

Early this year, a medical mission was held at St. Peter's Seminary at San Pedro, San Jose, Antique by the association wherein 200 barangay residents underwent free consultation and received free medicines.

The Philippine Medical Association Antique Chapter and the Philippine Federation of Private Medical Practitioners, Inc., Antique Chapter joined the medical mission.

Sanchez also said that the medical outreach program of Bugsay Association Inc. is their way of changing the face of development in the Province of Antique. (Bugsay/PIA) [top]
