Ifugao multisectoral convenes to mobilize resources on RH

by Vency D. Bulayungan

Lagawe, Ifugao (12 June) -- In an attempt to show that the province can stand on its own in the implementation of Reproductive Health and Family Planning program of the government, some 30 participants participated in a Round Table Discussion (RTD) on mobilizing resources for the purpose on June 9.

Sponsored by the Philippine Legislators' Committee on Population and Development (PLCPD) Foundation, Inc., the activity was geared in mobilizing funds for RH and Family Planning.

Participated by representatives from the provincial government, municipal government, local legislators and other sectoral organizations, the activity will contribute in the mobilization of budget for family planning and RH programs here. The Ifugao Province Reproductive Health Situation, Challenges, Gaps and Contraceptive Prevalence was also presented for discussion.

The participants also discussed the Ifugao initiatives on providing local resources for population reproductive health and family planning and how the local legislative arena view legislation as significant element in providing and or allocating resources for RH and family planning.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) 6th Country Programme of Assistance Provincial Development Strategy (PDS) Cluster of Ifugao and the PLCPD met and agreed to hold several advocacy strategies such as the public popularization of the provincial RH and gender ordinances. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
