Awarding of PGS marks Independence Day fete in Marawi City

by Apipa P. Bagumbaran

Marawi City (12 June) -- In commemoration of the Independence Day, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Lanao del Sur Provincial office awarded Pangulong Gloria Scholarships (PGS) to one hundred fifty (150) beneficiaries in Lanao del Sur.

In a simple ceremony held at the TESDA Provincial/City Manpower Development Center, 50 training vouchers for Healthcare Services, 50 for Massage Therapy, and another 50 for Dressmaking were awarded to qualified beneficiaries.

TESDA Provincial Director Tarhata S. Mapandi said that the celebration showcases TESDA's commitment for transparent service delivery provided to the poorest of the poor.

She also saluted President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for her scholarship training programs that help Filipinos improve their living conditions.

"This is also a good time to grab the opportunity to thank President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo because she really planned that this kind of scholarship be given to all the provinces in the country", she further said.

The Provincial Director further emphasized the need for unity and solidarity in this time of crisis.

"I believe that it's about time that we should not be pinpointing our misery to our political leaders but it would be better for us to move further by enjoining our collective efforts," she added.

Director Mapandi also encouraged the beneficiaries to finish training program.

Meanwhile, Tarosan Tarhata, a Dressmaking training beneficiary expressed her appreciation to President Arroyo for extending scholarship training slots in Lanao del Sur.

"I am thanking President Arroyo for coming-up with this program and giving us a chance to improve and enhance our skills", Tarosan expressed.

"The program will help not only the young ones but also those close to adulthood like me", she added. (PIA-Marawi City) [top]
