Job fair offers service opportunities to gov't agencies

Roxas City (13 June) -- The Kalayaan job fair at Amigo Plaza Mall here from June 12-14 in connection with the celebration of the 111th anniversary of Philippine Independence also became an opportunity for government agencies to bring their services outside of their offices closer to the people they are bound to serve.

There were many of these agencies who made grabbed the opportunity including the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) itself, lead agency of the job fair, Department of Trade and Industry, PHILHEALTH, Pag-IBIG Fund, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Overseas Employment Agency, Department of Agrarian Reform, and Technical Education and Skills Development Agency (TESDA).

Other agencies including the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine Army, Department of Public Works and Highways, National Irrigation Administration, Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Health, and DOLE were at the forefront yesterday during Independence Day to evaluate and hire job applicants under the Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP).

In particular, DTI brought their business registration service to the job fair, PHILHEALTH assisted its member-clients in verification and ID generation, while TESDA kept the momentum of its Pangulong Gloria Scholarships program going at the fair through information dissemination and skills demonstration of its trainee-scholars.

DAR put up a display for the products of Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) and so did DSWD for the products of its clientele or livelihood groups. (PIA 6) [top]
