DepED 2 advocates proper hand washing to schoolchildren
Tuguegarao City (15 June) -- Due to the pressing issues on Influenza AH1N1 virus worldwide, the Department of Education (DepEd) Region 2 has started conducting advocacy activities to educate schoolchildren on proper hand washing as an effective means of keeping themselves away from the virus.
Dr. Virgilio Isidro of DepEd, said they instructed all school officials to include the AH1N1 issue as one of the priority topics during Parents Teachers Community Association (PTCA) meetings, convocations, symposium and other school related activities for an intensified education and information campaign of the schools.
Isidro said the highlight of the topic would be the conduct of demonstration on the proper way of hand washing to all schoolchildren and inculcate into their minds to help keep the surroundings clean as ways to keep away from any illnesses.
In this connection, DepEd Regional Director Danilo Tumamao has allotted a budget for the construction of hand washing facilities with water source in all school communities within the region.
Isidro also announced that all schools without water and hand washing facilities must submit their request to the regional office to be forwarded to central office in Manila for assistance. (Ver/PIA-Cagayan) [top]
