P24.3M irrigation project to benefit 300 farmers in Negros Occidental
Neg. Occ. (16 June) -- Gov. Isidro Zayco led the turnover of the P24.3 million Magallon Cadre Irrigation Project in Brgy. Magallon Cadre, Moises Padilla, Neg. Occ.,that has a potential service area of 800 hectare hectares and will benefit 300 farmers.
The provincial government, through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist has extended P11.3 million while the national government through the Department of Agriculture has extended P13 million for the project.
The irrigation structures include a lined canal, bridge flumes and road crossing.
DA Region 6 director, Larry Nacionales said that at present, Negros Occidental ranks 10th among the provinces in the country that has sufficient crop production because of sugarcane and rice that the province is producing.
Neg.Occ. Gov. Isidro Zayco encouraged the people to cooperate with the programs of the government and take good care of the projects made available to them. (PIA/cad) [top]
