Daycare workers undergo "Pabasa sa Nutrisyon" training

Negros Occidental (16 June) -- The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office conducted a the two-day Pabasa sa Nutrisyon Training Seminar for Day Care Worker-officers of the seven Early Child Care and Development (ECCD)-identified areas at the TLDC Training Center in Bacolod City recently.

"The training will achieve the aims of the Philippine Plan of Action and Accelerated Hunger Mitigation Program tasked to the National Nutrition Council and to the local nutrition committees to help fight hunger, poverty and malnutrition in the country," said Provincial Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Teena Pineda.

The ECCD areas are Cauayan, Candoni, Ilog, Murcia, Toboso, Don Salvador Benedicto, and Calatrava.

Day care workers learned the three Basic Food Groups, nutritional needs of the family, malnutrition and hidden hunger and their prevention, backyard gardening and animal raising, meal planning, food selection and purchasing, nutrient conservation, food safety, and cooking demonstration through creative learning tools.

Participants are expected to share their learnings with fellow day care workers in their respective municipalities by conducting similar Pabasa sa Nutrisyon Trainings in their respective areas. (OPA News/PIA/EAD) [top]
