Capiceño wins Most Outstanding ARB for Visayas nat'l award
Roxas City (16 June) -- A Capiceño farmer has received a national award as Most Outstanding Agrarian Reform Beneficiary (ARB) for Visayas conferred by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) last June 15 in line with the celebration of the 21st anniversary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) this June.
Romulo V. Loberes has bested other nominees from the Visayas for the citation aimed at encouraging farmer beneficiaries who were awarded lands under the CARP to maximize the productivity of their land as well as become active members of cooperatives and farmers association in the community.
The 71 year old ARB from Barangay Agustin Navarra in Ivisan town was accompanied by his wife Miguela and DAR facilitator Delia Horario for the CAMMA Agrarian Reform Community in Ivisan to receive the award.
CAMMA is the acronym for barangays Cabugao, Agmalobo, Mi-anay, Malocloc Norte, Malocloc Sur, and Agustin Navarra.
DAR Public Information Officer Carlette Caldeo-Pretta said that DAR Central Office representatives conducted a thorough evaluation and actual field validation oF the nominees from the Visayas.
"The various criteria in the evaluation included among others the ARB's Agricultural Productivity for Primary Crop, Annual Farm Net Income, being up-to-date in payment of Land/Loan Amortizations, Capacity to Finance his Agricultural Production Cost, Capacity to send Children to School, and Active Participation in Cooperatives/Farmers Association within or outside the community," noted Pretta.
For her part, DAR – Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II Regina L. Caspillo hoped that the story of success of this year's Capiceño awardee will serve as an inspiration to other farmers in the province.
