Business growth in ARMM noted
Koronadal City (16 June) -- Despite the ongoing armed conflict in some areas in Maguindanao, local traders note the continued growth of the business sector in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
This was the observation made during the 7th ARMM Business Congress held June 4, 2009 in Marawi City which aims to invite and lure businessmen and traders to invest in the autonomous region.
With the theme "Wide Global Filipino Weathering the Crisis in Mindanao Economy", businessmen and investors in the provinces and cities under the ARMM have been invited to this year's Congress.
ARMM Business Council chair Haron Bandila said, the continuing growth in the rice, corn, poultry, rubber, seaweed, aquamarine, agro-marine production and the intensified promotion of the halal industry boost the region's business sector.
Such encouraging positive business outlook elates ARMM Regional Governor Zaldy Ampatuan.
For the regional governor, this is a welcome development which shows that business growth is attained despite the ongoing armed conflicts in some areas in Maguindanao.
He expressed confidence that the continuing growth of the business sector would draw more investments that would redound to the improvement of the autonomous region's economy. (pbc/PIA) [top]
