SM intensifies sanitation program, foot bath in mall entrances

Davao City (17 June) -- SM City Davao has intensified its sanitation program as it installed foot bath in all entrances inorder to help control the spread of viruses for the safety of the mall goers.

Debbie A. Go, SM Prime Holdings, Inc. regional operations manager for Mindanao said they started setting up the foot bath last Friday (June 12) and this is done in all SM malls around the country.

She also said that comfort rooms are being sanitized every three hours including those frequently touched and visited areas like hand railings of stairs, door knobs and rest rooms just to make sure that the mall is kept clean all the time.

She said rest rooms are also provided with soap, sanitizers, tissue papers and hand dryers where shoppers could easily access in washing their hands regularly.

"This is our way of helping the public and at the same time provide them a safe area to shop," she said.

SM also set up signages of some preventive measures for the public to be reminded in order not to spread the virus especially in public places like malls.

The Department of Health has issued guidelines on Influenza A H1N1 prevention and control and reminded everyone for Everyday Actions To Stay Healthy And Keep A Healthy Environment.

Among others, the DOH guidelines stated as displayed conspicuously at SM mall entrances and other areas to cover the nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing, frequent washing of hands with soap and water or cleansing of hands with alcohol-based hand sanitizers and others. (PIA) [top]
