Tagalog News: PGMA makikipagpulong sa Japanese Prime Minister

Manila (17 June) -- Pangunahing layunin sa pagbisita ngayong araw (June 17) ng Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ang pakikipagpupulong kay Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso at sa Emperor and Empress ng bansang Japan.

Ang four-day working visit ng Pangulo ay isang magandang oportunidad umano para sa dalawang pinuno na pagusapan ang state of bilateral relations at pagpapanatili ang momentum para sa strategic partnership lalo ang implementasyon sa Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA).

Ang bansang Japan ay isa sa major trade at development partners ng Pilipinas. Nanatili din itong pangunahing export market ng bansa at ang pangalawang pinakamalaking trade market na mayroong kabuuang bilateral trade na nagkakahalaga ng $14.2 billion at isa din ito sa pangunahing sources ng pamumuhunan at tourist arrivals sa bansa.

Isa din ang Japan sa pinaka-malaking source sa official development assistance o ODA. Mula taong 1956 hanggang taong 2006, Japanese ODA sa yen loans, grant aid technical cooperation na nagkakahalaga ng $11.04 .billion. (KAlbay/PIA 12) [top]
