CEZA promotes 'snorkeling' sport in Palaui Island
Sta. Ana, Cagayan (18 June) -- To capture interest of the people locally and abroad to take a tour here, the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) has trained some of their employees on snorkeling along Cape Engano and Punta Verde sea shores at Palaui Island.
CEZA hired certified and expert scuba divers to do the actual training to their employees who will guide tourists who want to do the snorkeling activities.
Snorkeling is a practice of swimming on body of water while equipped with diving mask, shaped tube called snorkel, used for underwater breathing, swim fins and a wet suit or swimsuit. Snorkeling allows anyone to observe underwater attractions clearly for extended period of time with relatively little effort.
Ms. Chen Mensias, Consultant on Tourism Planning, said snorkeling is the newest tourist activity in the Palaui Island, which could be a choice of tourists aside from island hopping, beach bathing, hiking, boating and trailing.
"If you are not a diver, snorkeling is the best alternative for you to experience to watch the beautiful marine ecosystemů the school of fishes with different species, our beautiful corals and other creatures inside the sea," Mensias said.
Mensias said the primary attraction of snorkeling is the opportunity to observe underwater life in a natural setting without the complicated equipment and training required for scuba diving.
She is optimistic in saying that snorkeling will be the best tourism interest in the region because Palaui Island has the potential in this type of sport and this is the first time to promote this event in the region. (Ver/PIA 2) [top]
