Tagalog News: Migrant Workers Day ipinagdiwang ng OWWA sa Oriental Mindoro

Calapan City (19 June) -- Bilang pagkilala sa kontribusyon ng OFW's sa lalawigan at sa sa pag-angat ng ekonomiya ng bansa, itinaguyod ng OWWA at DOLE ang Migrant Workers Day na may temang "Pagpupugay sa Kakayahan at Talino ng Expat Pinoy" na ginanap sa IHMA Gymnasium sa bayan ng Pinamalayan noong Hunyo 7.

Sinimulan ang pagdiriwang sa parada mula sa Pinamalayan town plaza na umikot sa mga pangunhaing lansangan ng bayan. Sinundan ito ng cultural presentation, at pamimigay ng mga mumunting regalo mula kay Gobernador Arnan, DOLE, BDO, Western Union, Globe at lokal na pamahalaan ng bayan ng Pinamalayan.

Naging sentro ng programa ang paghirang sa outstanding OFW's at OFW Family Circles. Bukod dito ang award for outstanding land based at sea based OFW, financially challenged OFW, oldest surviving OFW, barangay with the most participants at best in cultural presentation.

Dumalo sa okasyon sina OWWA OIC Regional Director Allan Ignacio, Provincial PESO Manager Antonio Magnaye Jr. na kinatawan ni Gobernador Arnan, SEC Commissioner at dating Vice Governor Thaddeus Venturanza at ilang mga piling panauhin.

Umabot naman sa may siyam na daang (900) OFW's ang nakilahok sa matagumpay na programa na pinangasiwaan ni OWWA Region IV-B Family Welfare Officer Ramezes Tores. (PIA) [top]
