Roxas City (19 June) -- A 38-year old Capiceņa who contracted the Influenza A (H1N1) virus is recovering from her illness as she manifests no more symptoms of the viral disease.
However, Provincial Health Officer II Jarvis Punsalan said that the patient who works as a domestic helper in Singapore is still under the 5-days medication period which started June 18 to ensure her complete recovery.
"She will be taken a swab sample by Monday to determine if she's A H1N1-free already," he added.
The confirmed case of A H1N1 in the province was announced by Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco, Sr. in behalf of Department of Health (DOH) Regional Director for Western Visayas during a press conference yesterday.
During the press conference, the local health official has also expressed assurance that the returning Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) has not spread the virus to her co-passengers from Metro Manila towards her hometown because the disease manifested days after the travel time.
The seven immediate family members who have direct contact with the patient are also being observed and given medications by the DOH and Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO).
Tanco has also asked the support of local tri-media practitioners to help in the dissemination of preventive measures for the viral disease after the guidelines on media reporting of the disease have been laid down to them. (PIA) [top]
