SN Aboitiz, prov'l gov't lead groundbreaking of Ifugao senior citizens building

Lagawe, Ifugao (20 June) -- About 16,000 senior citizens here will soon enjoy what they had been craving for as the benefactor and the provincial government led the groundbreaking of the Provincial senior citizens building here.
The ceremony was led by Emmanuel V. Rubio, Chief Executive Officer of SN Aboitiz, Governor Teddy Baguilat Jr. and Mr. Miguel Dimalnat, the President of the Provincial federation of the senior citizens' here. The event was witnessed by the senior citizens from the different municipalities here.
In his message, Rubio said that this is one of the mission of SN Aboitiz power company to become partners for the province. We had been giving livelihood projects to Ifugao with the hope of uplifting the living conditions of the community here, he said.
Rubio assured that the power company will remain committed to their host province. We can make a difference with partnership with the people of Ifugao and we look forward for the senior citizens to enjoy the center, he added.
SN Aboitiz is the owner of the Magat Dam located in the Municipality of Alfonso Lista here.
Governor Teddy Baguilat Jr. said that the activity marks history in the lives of the senior citizens as this is the first step in the realization of a dream. There are many Municipal Senior Citizens building in the province but there is none in the province, he said.
"Let us try to move on as a province as we pray for peace, unity and development for the province. Let the building serve its purpose as we try to provide facilities to our elders for them to enjoy the twilight years of their lives, Baguilat said.
Dimalnat said that the Constitution mandates that there shall be a senior citizens center in all parts of the country. Each province should build a model Senior Citizens Center, he added.
He thanked SN Aboitiz for funding the project located within the premises of the Provincial Capitol here. Without SN Aboitiz, we will not be here to conduct this ground breaking, he further said. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
