300 Ifugao jobseekers apply in jobs fair

Lagawe, Ifugao (20 June) -- About 300 job seekers applied in the recent jobs fair conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment and the Provincial Government on June 17 at the open gymnasium here.
According to Provincial Director of the DOLE, Dr. Alex Gumabol, most of the applicants who are skilled workers, applied as factory workers and mostly for jobs abroad. Some of the applicants who are college graduates applied for local jobs.
As a way of decreasing the unemployment concern of the government Gumabol said that this activity will help provide employment to the unemployed and those who were displaced due to the global financial crisis.
Complementing the job fair were the trade test conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the issuance of the passports by the mobile unit of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The TESDA also conducted skills training on manicure, pedicure hair perming, facial treatment and bartending. Mr. Ronald Ibay, Provincial director of TESDA said that the skills Olympics which was conducted together with the jobs fair shows the seriousness of the government in providing jobs for the unemployed.
