Gov't remains focused on achieving economic goals
Tacloban City (June 21) -- While it acknowledges the hovering effects of the global economic crunch on the Filipino people, the Arroyo government continuously seeks for measures that will to lessen the impact of socio-economic pressures by helping the economy generate more investment and job opportunities; instituting reforms to maintain fiscal stability and implementing pro poor programs.
A Palace official once said, "we remain focused in achieving our economic goals and no amount of political squabbles and attempts to discredit the government will stand in our own way to improve the living conditions of ordinary people, especially in the face of the global economic crunch."
As the administration is besieged with controversy and is somehow plagued by questions on election plans, the government opts to work hard to ensure that the economic fundamentals remain stable.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo just ended her visit to Japan where she urged the Japanese businessmen to invest in the Philippines where tremendous opportunities in many fields are available.
As regards the destabilization attempts being waged by some sectors, the Palace official maintained that there is nothing better than advocating peaceful resolution to issues, that a proper forum is handling the issue at hand and that Filipinos must respect its rulings.
As one research result showed, the main cause of poverty in the country is poor governance.
Indeed, because what kind of governance some detractors are showing, calling on the people to go to the streets and destabilize their very own government?
A good leader guides his people towards peace and productivity, pilots his people to love and honor everything that signifies his country and its people. Perhaps, the Filipinos should look for these qualities in the candidates they will vote in the 2010 elections. (PIA 8) [top]
