Milk feeding program launched in San Carlos City
Bacolod City (22 June) -- A 120-day milk feeding program launched by the city government of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, recently, benefited 71 pupils of the Andres Bonifacio Central School.
San Carlos City Mayor Eugenio Jose Lacson said that there is a need to help malnourished elementary school children, have their much needed nutrients for proper growth and development.
San Carlos City has an annual allocation of P 346,000 for the milk feeding program.
The first 120-day community milk feeding program in the city was initially launched in the barangays in January 2007, and it showed positive results in increased weight and improved health of the beneficiaries.
The milk is sourced from the dairy project of Codcod Multi-Purpose Cooperative, a project also supported by the local government. (PIA/cad) [top]
