Quezon City (24 June) -- The Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) for the 4PS or the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program for CALABARZON was convened yesterday by Dir. Honorita Bayudan of DSWD 4A at the NEDA IV-A Conference Room, EDSA Diliman, Quezon City.

The meeting aimed to clarify the roles and functions of all the member agencies, namely DSWD, DOH-CHD, DepEd, DILG, NEDA and NAPC as stipulated in the DSWD-DOH-DepEd-DBM-NAPC-NEDA Joint Memorandum Circular No. 01 s. 2008.

Updates on the implementation of the program particularly in the municipalities of San Francisco, San Andres, Buenavista and San Narciso, Quezon was discussed.

Ms. Lucia Almeda, the DSWD focal person for 4Ps reported that the 2nd cash payments were already received by the beneficiaries of the four municipalities and that the 3rd cash grants covering the periods of March to May 2009 are targeted for release in July 2009.

She likewise reported the program expansion for the indigenous peoples in the region. The members agreed on the proposed frequency for the conduct of meetings as well as on the proposal of Dir. Gerardo Bayugo of DOH-CHD for DSWD to gather issues and concerns which shall be sent to the concerned agencies prior to the meetings.

The suggestion of Dir. Severino Santos of NEDA for some RAC meetings to be 'piggy-backed' with other RDC Sectoral and Sub-Sectoral Committee and the Regional KALAHI Convergence Group (RKCG) meetings to save on resources was likewise approved.

It was pointed out that prior to the formal organization of the RAC, concerns on the 4Ps were discussed at the Sectoral Committee on Social Development as well as in the RKCG. In attendance during the meeting aside from Directors Bayudan, Bayugo and Santos were representatives from DepEd, DILG and NAPC. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
