Congressman 'Way Kurat' rates DSWD 99.99 percent

Davao City (25 June) -- "If I were to rate you, I would give DSWD 99.9%." This was the recurring pronouncement of Compostela Valley First District Representative Manuel 'Way Kurat' Zamora during the recent DSWD Caravan Cum Program Review at his congressional office in Compostela town, Compostela Valley.

The caravan was also attended by Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers of the 1st District as well as some staff of the congressman, and the DSWD team of senior officials.

Beginning February this year, the DSWD Caravan has already visited the offices of congresspersons Thelma Z. Almario, Speaker Prospero Nograles, Nelson Dayanghirang, Franklin Bautista, Arrel Olano, Rommel Amatong and Isidro Ungab. The Caravan is slated to be brought to the offices of congressmen Anton Lagdameo, Marc Cagas and Vincent Garcia in the second semester.

Initiated by Director Acebedo-Versoza, the caravan aims to directly report to legislators, chief executives and municipal social welfare officers the DSWD Performance and Accomplishments in their respective areas.

Highlighting the caravan is the presentation of DSWD Accomplishment per program and services and those projects implemented through PDAF (Priority Development Assistance Fund) of each legislator, and the new DSWD program National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction. Also discussed is the Fund Utilization and the new DBM Circular Letter No. 2008-11 or the Guidelines in the Release of Notice of Cash Allocation for Fiscal Year 2009.

Assistant Director Priscilla Nidea-Razon said, "Through this kind of interaction, we are able to immediately obtain the reaction, feedback and comments of the concerned officials relative to implementation of DSWD programs and services."

Among the DSWD projects presented were Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program; Self Employment Assistance Kaunlaran; Katas ng VAT; Community-Based Services for Children, Women, Youth, Persons With Disability, Senior Citizens and other Persons in Especially Difficult Circumstances; and Disaster Relief and Augmentation.
