"Negosyo, Kaya Mo!" launched

Davao City (26 June) -- For more than a decade now, the Davao City Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council (SMED Council) has played a significant role in the development of a sound entrepreneurial climate which promotes growth and boosts the innovativeness of the City's micro, small and medium enterprises.

One of the major activities of the council is the annual implementation of the Davao City SME Development (SMED) Week which highlights the activities such as products and services showcase, capability buildings and conferences. The event is being primed as the unifying activity in the Davao region MSMED Council, thus will showcase not only products from Davao City but also from the greater Davao region.

Geared towards developing the capabilities of the micro, small and medium enterprises, this year's SMED Week, slated July 6 10, 2009, will also feature trainings and seminars for SME's at the NCCC Mall and Sangguniang Panlungsod's Lobby. Seminars would include (1) Developing and Enhancing Business using Information Technology; (2) Marketing and Customer Service; (3) Food Safety & Food Packaging; and (4) Meat Processing.

Themed "Negosyo, Kaya Mo!" the SMED Council believes in the capabilities of MSME's as a sector, accounting for 99 percent of total establishments in the country and employing 69 percent of the labor force.(DCCCII/PIA) [top]
