Kalinga readies for July observance of disaster consciousness, nutrition, disability and prevention
Tabuk, Kalinga (26 June) -- Rallying public support for a healthy and safe community; and a humane treatment for the disabled, the whole constituency of the province is urged to participate in the up coming July observance of the Disaster Consciousness and National Nutrition Month; and National Disability and Prevention Rehabilitation Week for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
Governor Floydelia Diasen issued three separate memorandums enjoining all concerned to participate on these month-long observances. Fitting activities are prepared salient of which are the conduct of jobs fair for persons with disabilities, declogging of canals, tree planting, IEC on radio and print and blood-letting.
Agencies and local government units in the municipal and barangay levels are asked to display streamers with the theme "Pag Alerto, Malayo sa Peligro," Wastong Nutrisyon Kailangan, Lifestyle Diseases Iwasan," and the 31st NDPR Week: Tungo sa Katuparan ng Karapatan ng PWDs."
During the meeting of heads of agencies and provincial offices held at Capitol last week, the group agreed that aside from cleaning of respective office surrounding on the first two Fridays of July, the canals of both public markets in Dagupan and Bulanao here were identified as places for the declogging activity on the last two Fridays of July.
A one-hour radio program over DZRK-Radyo ng Bayan from 11:00-12:00 AM Mondays to Fridays for the whole month of July is also scheduled where each office is assigned to discuss about the event. The first two weeks are devoted on nutrition topics while the last two weeks on disaster preparedness. Non-government organizations are also enjoined to conduct outreach activities.
On disaster awareness, Diasen is calling on each one to work together towards the promotion of social welfare, human security, and environment protection. On the other hand, she urges for a concerted effort for everyone to practice proper nutrition for the prevention and control of diet-related lifestyle diseases known as non-communicable diseases.
The municipal and barangays are directed to conduct separate activities. The reorganization of local disaster councils was reiterated so with the disaster quick response and survey team of the PDCC to conduct assessment on critical roads, bridges, and land slide-prone areas.
In support to the nation's effort in advancing the concerns of PWDs and consequently improving their lives, all Local Chief Executives are encouraged to exert efforts in supporting and participating in the 31st NDPR week by undertaking fitting activities such as holy mass celebration; employers forum, jobs fair and those doable in the area.
