Another call center to open in Bacolod soon

Bacolod City (30 June) -- A leading Business Process Outsourcing company in Europe – Transcom Asia opted to invest in another call center in the Philippines particularly this city which is set to operate in September.

Transcom Asia Country Manager Siva Subramaniam met with local officials here last week to discuss the details of their forthcoming operation in the city.

According to Bacolod Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, chair of the committee on Communications and Energy, the Sangguniang Panlungsod has approved her resolution endorsing as IT Zone the property in Lopue's South Square to be known as Transcom Center Bacolod.

Meanwhile, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the entry of Transcom Asia in the city will bring about 2,000 jobs for Bacoleños.

Initially, Transcom Asia will hire 800 personnel and will keep on hiring until they reach their required number of employees.

Leonardia expressed elation over this development in the city assuring the company's executive of the city's support in terms of security and human resource.

With the investment of Transcom Asia in the city, this brings to a total of four the major call centers here.

Batapa-Sigue said through the Committee on Communications and Energy and the Bacolod-Negros Federation for Information and Communications Techology, they expect to hire an estimated 7,000 workers for the call center industry by the first quarter of 2010. (PIA/EAD) [top]
