NVizcaya entrepreneurs earn more than P3M from OTOP trade fair

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (October 1) -- Entrepreneurs from this province recently earned more than P3 million in sales during their participation to the One-Town-One Product (OTOP) exhibition and selling trade fair in Metro Manila.

The trade fair which started in August 21 and September 1, 2009 featured OTOP products such as the "Tupig" of Solano town, Malabing citrus of Kasibu town, 'Yacon' rootcrop of Dupax del Norte town, the fresh fruits and vegetables of Kayapa town and the health food products of Bayombong town like noodles, Yacon tea and others.

Ma. Salvacion Castillejos, trade and industry department provincial director said the marketing event serves as an opportunity for Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs) in the province to promote their products, test new product lines and for possible marketing agreement with various buyers in Metro Manila.

Castillejos said provincial officials of Nueva Vizcaya supported the event in the form of funds needed for the payment of venue, lease of modules, booths, other facilities, promotional activities and other requirements.

According to Castillejos, the top seller products from the province were processed foods, gifts and holiday decors, ornamental plants, fresh fruits and vegetables and furniture and furnishings.

"This year, we have generated P3,716,565 which cover cash sales and booked orders. And we are happy about it because once again, our local entrepreneurs earned from the event," Castillejos.

Castillejos said six SMEs from the furniture sector such as Reylen's Enterprises, Villa Coloma Furniture, ER Pascua, Four H Handicraft, Apollo Antiques and Muebles Ilocandia were able to negotiate orders for various designs of furniture and antique products from clients like home/housing developers, and shoppers from Alabang, Paranaque, Cavite, Las Pinas, Lipa and Laguna.
