PIA-6 launches 2009 Search for Best Performing Paper Advisers

Iloilo City (1 October) -- The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 6 is launching the 2009 Search for Best Performing School Paper Advisers in the region.

PIA 6 Director Atty. Janet C. Mesa said the Search is PIA's way of recognizing and appreciating the role of school paper advisers in promoting developmental and responsible campus journalism.

Mesa said the Search is open to all paper advisers who have served the school publication for at least two consecutive years and have attended any of the PIA journalism seminar-workshops during her/his term as adviser.

A school publication is entitled to only one nominee, recommended by the Dean, or the principal supported by certification of service as adviser.

Other supporting documents required include certificates of participation in related trainings, awards and recognitions received from organizations, related community outreach activities and writing output on government's major thrusts.

The 10 Best Performing Advisers will each receive a Citation, Gold Medal, and Gift Certificates.

The awarding will be held during the College Press Conference (COPRE) and Awards, on November 26, 2009, 6:30 P.M. at the Iloilo Grand Hotel.

Deadline for submission of nominations, with the necessary documents, is October 30, 2009, at the nearest PIA regional or provincial offices. (PIA6/ESS) [top]
