'Pepeng' may dump rains causing floods
Manila (2 October) -- Metro Manila may be spared by a direct hit but typhoon Pepeng, internationally known as Parma, is just too wide to dump rains into the metropolis.
Four days after storm'Ondoy' left the country with the death toll likely hitting 300, Peping now is threatening Batanes group of islands and extreme northern Luzon, state weather forecasters said.
Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the storm intensified further and enhanced the southwest monsoon and bringing rains.
Pagasa also added Pepeng packed a maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph, is about 400 kilometers wide and is moving west-northwest. (PIA) [top]
