Ifugao preschool mentors undergo seminar on teaching strategies, techniques

Lagawe, Ifugao (3 October) -- About 50 pre-school teachers participated in a seminar-workshop on the strategies and techniques in teaching preschool held at the conference hall of the Department of Education here on October 1 and 2.

Supt. Estela Carino said that the activity aims to enhance the capabilities and skills of Parent Teachers Community Association/DEPED Funded New Preschool Teachers.

"The participants are updated with the different strategies and techniques in teaching the preschool curriculum and other relevant concerns pertaining to preschool education," Carino said.

Meanwhile, the District of Mayoao topped the National Achievement Test (NAT) among the 12 districts here.

Samuel Tayaban, Planning Officer of DEPED said that Mayoyao garnered the highest mean percentage score (MPS) of 68.21%. Tinoc ranked second with 67.72% and Lagawe was third with 66.05%

Ms. Anita Guingayan, Principal 2 of Mayoyao Central School, said that the commitment of the teachers in conducting daily reviews and the diligence of the listeners in attending such reviews contributed much to the result of the said contest.

Guingayan added that difficult practice tests were formulated by the teachers and administered to the learners in order to accustom them to similar questions in the NAT. The support of parents also added to the success of the reviews since parents provided snacks for the pupils during review sessions.

According to Guingayan, local government unit here was also supportive to their schools. Special awards and incentives were handed down to principlas and teachers of high performing schools during the town fiesta.

Mayoyao has been topping the NAT examination in the province since 2006. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
