2nd year of "Christmas ed Kapangan" launched

Kapangan, Benguet (3 October) -- This town launched last week the second year of "Christmas ed Kapangan" a pre-Christmas homegrown tourism event inviting interested adventurers and enthusiasts to explore what the town has to offer.
The early Christmas treat tagged as "A Pre-Christmas Adventure with Window of Nature," is slated December 11-12, 2009 with activities spread out in six barangays namely Labueg, Taba-ao, Cuba, Lomon, Balakbak, Paykek.
Spearheaded by the local government unit, the event is in coordination with the Provincial Government of Benguet and the Department of Tourism – CAR.
Councilor Manny Fermin commended the all out support of the local government unit, organizers and the community in making the activity possible and successful which they hope to be institutionalized yearly.
He recounted how the participants enjoyed during its launching t last year and hopes that there will be more who will be joining this time.

In a bid to promote tourism, the event will showcase the town's culture, caving adventure, panoramic views and its river to boast.
The highlights of activities will be canao, cultural show, grand march, caving at Bulalacao and spelunking at Longog cave, exploration of Amburayan river, visit to Burcio Family Anthurium Farm, visit to the One-Town-One-Product Livelihood Center, hands on rice harvest, rice pounding, Chuom (making demo on gold panning.
Activities will take place in the same venues as last year but expect a lot of excitement now said White. There will be more activities to keep them busy, she added.
Among the add on is the School of Living Tradition students of Balakbak who will be doing performing arts according to White. The elderly group will serenade the participants. The Amburayan river will have a better set-up to explore. The LGU will also be inviting Mr. Philippines Cesar Lokines.
Registration fee is P2,000.00 which covers transportation from assembly area in going to the town and back and in various venues, meals and snacks for the whole duration, souvenir t-shirt, ID, guide fee, certificate of participation.
The awarded youngest and oldest participant last year will have free registration fee for this year Engr. Christopher Hadsan, the Municipal Tourism Action Officer designate said.
